The Misadventures of Benjamin Bartholomew Piff: You Wish
Ethan and I listened to this on CD whenever we drove to the store, library, Awana, or...well, anywhere we went!
We liked it. It was about a boy who made a wish on his eleventh birthday and made the mistake of wishing for unlimited wishes. Opps. That upset the Wishworks Factory and caused the Curseworks Factory to make curses more powerful than wishes. Not a good thing! Also, all those wishes for just one person causes other people's wishes to be taken away. The Wish Factory can only do so much you know!
Poor Ben had to join forces with Leprechauns, Djinn (Genie) and Fairies to get the globe back before too many people have zippers for mouths and nosy noses the size of squash.
It is a good story addressing prejudices, selfishness and having to make the decision to do the right thing in the end no matter how difficult it may be.
There are at three more books so far in the series and looking forward to either listening to or reading them.
