Harry Potter

OK...I have officially started reading Harry Potter! I know, I know! About time! I just have this part of me that wants to rebel and NOT read the "very popular" books. LOL I still have not read the Left Behind series. Another reason I never read the Harry Potter books was because of all the controversy. Is it "evil"? Is it "OK" to read? I have been thinking how do I know if I don't read it for myself? When reading a secular book, there will always be things I don't agree with. I find that even with Christian books. So as I do with all books, I will read it, enjoy it and think through the story. We'll see~

Miss Fortune

Reading a new series set back in the 1940's. Miss Fortune is a woman private detective who came from a wealthy and known family. She is always at odds with her mother who seems to have one goal for her daughter... getting married. She does meets a man at one of her mother's dinners and finds out they are working on the same case. They team up to try and solve the case.

There is a back story for Miss Fortune that they slowly reveal throughout the book and that adds a whole other dimention to the book.

I really enjoyed reading it. I started book two, Miss Match, and like it so far...

The Taking by Dean Koontz

I listened to this one on CD. I must say it was a strange one. It was the first Koontz I had "read" though, so it might have been just normal for his style.
The interesting part was after you have heard "read" the last word you sit there and have to just think about it all for awhile. There were elements of good vs evil, God vs Satan. He played on a few things about how the end of the world might come about. He did not go according to scripture... he took his own spin on it. It was interesting though how he viewed evil in people. Would make a good horror flick. (I dont think I would want to see it..LOL. The book was a graphic enough)

Just sitting back and listening though, it was a good book. I am going to listen to Intensity next by him....
